Default What a Crock

Until yesterday I thought Country Crock was butter. It should have been obvious, it's right there on the package, but it's one of the few labels I haven't been manic about checking. I grew up using the stuff so I didn't think to question it, silly me. To think I've been drowning my broccoli in an oil spread instead of yummy butter. Lesson learned! I can't rely on what I grew up knowing about "food". Today I'm getting some grass fed butter to make Bulletproof coffee with..or bulletproof hot chocolate

Butter doesn't normally come in plastic tubs.

Wow, you're in for a treat then... what do you think of the real thing?

Your plan to buy some high-end butter is a good one. There really is a difference in flavor compared to store-brand butter.
A product must be at least 80% butterfat to call itself butter, and since butterfat is the expensive ingredient, most store brand butters will contain 80% on the dot. Where your "better butters" like Kerrygold, Lurpak, Plugra, may have 82 - 86%.

Thanks for the welcome Becky! I haven't gotten out to pick up any real butter yet but I'll definitely be getting some this evening. I'm actually waiting to get my gallon of virgin coconut oil in right now, it's supposed to be delivered today! I'm really looking forward to that! I just finished the refined Louann stuff I got from walmart and wanna try some with real coconuty flavor

I love kerrygold, all the butter is made from milk & cream from grass fed cows. They now have it in a plastic tub too, but it is just as yummy.

Just a quick note, Sawyer. If you have never had bulletproof coffee...and not accustomed to high fat intake all at once....it can be VERY dangerous! LOL! My first time having BP coffee: 2 cups coffee, 2 tbsp butter, 2 tbsp coconut oil = running back and forth to the bathroom (very quickly) for the next 4 hours!

I had a similar experience and ever since I read the labels on anything. As for the bulletproof coffee, I've never had it, doesn't sound too tasty. Should I give it a try? I do like coconut oil though.

Rosejamm I prefer butter in coffee myself. I love the taste of the CO but can't work my mind around sipping it from the top of my coffee but for some reason the oily butter on top works for me. I'd say it's worth a try. I add a lil cinnamon and it gives it a cinnamon bun feel.
