Hi everyone! I hope people are still interested in doing a LC TTC PCOS board! I have been ttc for 10 years...have done everything in my power....got pg twice but both ended fairly early on in mc. I was dx with PCOS at 16, and just recently with insulin resistance....no one ever gave me good info....they just said to lose weight! Well how?!?!?! I have never been able to lose much with what they always recommended- low fat/high carb......uhh duh, that is only making me FATTER!!!! Anyway, I could use the support as I am just trying LCing for the first time ever and really hope to restore my body to a functioning state!!! Good luck to all those who are ttc and I will keep you all in my prayers!!!

Default ketosis and ttc. I feel better though......

Hi everyone. I've been lurking around a little and learning a lot from all of you. I have recently been dx with pcos. However my IR results came back negative.

I have read all kinds of diet advise. However, I feel best when I low carb. Actually when I high fat/mod prot/low carb. (60%, 30%, 10%) My head is clear, I can think, my foggyness goes away, no fatigue, clear skin. I am TTC and do have concerns about LC. But, if I feel better when I do this, then how can it be harmful?

One thing I don't understand is if I am not IR, then why am I soooooo carb sensitive. I tried adding brown rice to one of my salads today, but afterwards I felt horrible.......iritable, lethargic, foggy, headache.

Does anyone else do low to no carbs and high fat (all from good fats) and feel better? Has anyone gotten the blessing of their Repr.Endoc.? I'm starting to feel like I'm the only one because a lot of others suggest moderate carbs (40% of diet). Also, I'm not really that overweight. I am 155 pnds (it's on the High end for my height). All of my weight is in my belly. I am definately what is refered to as abdominal obesity.

BTW, I (of course) would love a LC TTC forum!

I too am ttc #1, I went to the Reproductive Endocrinologists in September and she made me take some tests. I was officially diagnosed with PCOS. My Dr prescribed me Metformin and prenatal vitamins for now and requested I continue with my low carb diet. I havent been low carbing for awhile but restarted on 10/12/04. If I am not pregnant by November I will be put on Clomid. Time will tell but I am extremely pleased with my RE.

Hey Dewi, I wish you the best of luck, I know I really loved our RE. He was so great. We have been au natural for a couple years now tho, just too hard to deal with injections, IUI, and then disappointment. We have been ttc #1 for 10 years. I am now trying more natural measures, such as diet to get things going hopefully. I'm just not ready to go back to the drugs and injections and blood tests and on and on.......Anyway, good luck to all who are ttc and lo-carbing thier way thru it!!!

I had my meeting with the endo today. He said I do not have any type of hypothyrid and that my fts arent at the high range doesnt matter if my TSH isnt elevated and that the T3 treatments are a "flaky" theorie. He also said to not take L-tyrosin and thet it causes stess instead of decreasing it (it sais 'anti-stress' on the bottle)!

These are the new results:

S-Kortisol: 380........................................... nmol/L
S-Tyrotropin TSH: 1.5......................0.4-4.7 mU/L
S-Trijodtyronin frit (Free T3): 3.7.....3.0-6.5 pmol/L
S-Tyroxin, fritt, FT: 14........................12-23 pmol/L
S-Androstendion: *12.......................3.2-9.9nmol/L
S-Foll.stim.horm,FSH: 6.1.............................IU/L
S-Luteiniser hormon: 7,3.............................IU/L
S-DHEA-sulfat: 5.6............................2.0-11 umol/L
S-Prolaktin: 5.9.....................................<18 ug/L
S-Sexhormbind glob: 25.>19 years:25-105 nmol/L
S-Testosteron,S-T: 1.2....prepubertet:<0.7 nmol/L

But he does think that I have PCOS due to some other numers, so he wants me to come back in a month to check if Im insulin resistant and then he wants me to start taking Metoformin. Anything missing here?

ps. I got my period today after not have had it for more than a year!

Hi all!
I am not quite down with the lingo here, what do all of the abbrevs mean? Anyways, I have PCOS too. I have had it for a while now. Nothing was really done about it for a long time except BC. About 1 1/2 yrs ago my doc put me on Metformin. I also started LC about that time. Not too far down the road I got preggo for the first time. I was overjoyed! My son is now 8 months and I started to miss my periods again after gaining some weight back after being preggo. Now that I am LC again, I hope I will have no probs getting preggo again next year around this time. So, in other words I would love to be in the "CLUB"!

Hi All,

Had a sonogram last Thursday, my cycle day 13, technician said I have alot of follicles...Is that good news? I've only started with my RE in September. I am on Metformin and got TOM without provera. Having another sonogram tomorrow AM, hopefully I will ovulate, if not I will probably be put on Clomid. We wil see what happens.

Default No More TTC!!!!

Hello everyone! Haven't been here in a little while. Just wanted to give you some encouragement and tell you my story. I have a 2 1/2 year old son. I got pregnant with him at 195 lbs and after I finished nursing him, I weighed 225 lbs. I decided in Feb. of this year to lose the weight before I got pregnant again so I went on Atkins. We started TTC at the same time. It only took us 3 months to conceive our son mind you. From Feb. until July, I lost 53 lbs and went down to 173 lbs. from a size 22W to a size 12-14 R. This whole time, I was irregular and had no success. I stopped losing weight and kind of maintained (Not on purpose) and was pregnant by October. Be encouraged. It takes a lot of work for your body to lose all that weight. I'm healthier now since it did take me so long and as soon as I got back to normal, I conceived. I'm 9 weeks now and due June 29th.

Hi all, I am new here. I have PCOS and I am so very tired on doctors. My story is that I have had this since childhood. I got my period at 9!!! It has never been normal. I have had one bad doc after another. I am now seeing a specialist on Dec 10th. I am so excited. Besides my PCOS, my husband has fertility issues. Please let me know if anyone has had the same issues with bad doctors.
