I had read and printed the original Taubes article some time ago and missed the flurry of "point/counterpoint" that has taken place since. I hope the Forum Moderator can somehow bundle these links into one place, labled "Taubes vs Fumento", so people can follow this debate. I was horrified when I read the Fumento article and considered it a blessing to be able to go back to previous threads and links and find it all. The man is a menace...he needs to take his fight with Taubes out of the public arena.

FromVA, expect to see *more* of such public bickering from the entrenched, misinformed forces... their ill-gotten reputations and careers are riding on it to the extent they refuse to compromise and adjust to the new medical studies chiming in. As more data accumulates proving the health benefits of controlled-carb nutrition, the Fumento's, Ornish's et al will potentially resort to even more desperate measures, from character attacks, topic-deflection, rumors, etc. since, after all, they'll have even less of a leg to stand on. Their authority wasn't based on serious research, so they don't have much of a leg to stand on - with any luck, we'll see their house of cards crumble someday - but not without the Mother of All Battles.

Chillygatr, I hate to tell you this, but the Angel premiere isn't till October 1st. (If you see it before then, let me know!) I am a huge fan of both Angel and BtVS, but in spite of my former quote, Spike isn't my fave character. (In fact I really hated his relationship with Buffy.) Feel free to drop by my journal for a chat if you like. I'm always willing to let my inner fangirl out for a visit!
