Hi there:
During my pregnancy last year I was eating controlled carb at around 100g a day. When I had my second fasting glucose test, 26 wks. or thereabouts, my blood sugar was over 200. I could not figure that one out because of how careful I was being eating and never have had problems with blood sugar.
I posted in my journal and got this answer:

I hope it makes a difference!

I had asked my midwife if how I ate could affect my blood sugar and she wouldn't listen to me about how I controlled everything. She just saw a fat person and thought I stuffed everything into my mouth. UGH!
So I ended up being referred to special hospital for high risk pregnancies, meeting with specialists and a nutritonist. When I spoke with the doctor there, armed with this information and examples of how I ate and why, he seemed to agree that the blood sugar test was off because of the lower carbs. Another doctor I met with there, said they tell their patients to eat more carbs for a few days before the test. The doctors and nutritionistl were happy with how I was eating also. My A1C was 4.7, so how were they thinking I was diabetic at my local hospital.
This little bleep caused me to have to commute to a hospital that was over 1 hr. drive away several times, 7 blood sugar tests at day for two weeks and every other day after that for the rest of my pregnancy even though my blood sugar was totally normal and stable.
The perks were that I got to see my son several times in ultrasound, was very closely monitored (I had eclampsia the first time around) and now I have an wonderful, healthy almost one year old boy.
Best of luck to you.
PS. I never had ketones in my blood either.
