Hi Anne,

I am recently new to the board and just found out a great
nutrition web page, that thankfully counts in Grams, instead of fluid ounces.

this has helped me when i cant find a suitable serving size on fit day.

http://www.weightlossforgood.co.uk/...n/nutrition.htm

thought i wouls post it here as this thread is sticky!

Anne
I am so pleased I found this info - I have just posted a query on crispbreads that I found and did I deduct the fibre content. (general low carb) this post answers my question and also the fact that I have been deducting fibre from everything - which is probably why I had a stall for three weeks and why I could not understand why everyone seems to think you could not eat lots of veg when I was eating lots and lots by the time I had deducted the fibre count - which I now know I should not have done.

I visited a relative just over a week ago and she forgot about my diet and made all the food I should not have had - but did - and now find it very difficult to get started back on the diet. I will keep going though - especially with the support and information from this website.
Thanks

How do you read the carbs on diabetic chocolate? If you read the total carbs its always pretty high so I always assumed it wasn't allowed.

If you wanted to look at the "net" carbs that other products quote, you'd take total carbs and then take away the figure quoted as something like "of which polyols" or "malitol" or similar.

Be warned that some people experience tummy problems with sugar alcohols, malitol in particular, and some people don't believe in the taking away *all* the sugar alcohols and only take away half the amount of polyols from the total carb figure.

My Mum, bless her bought me some diabetic chocolate, it contains mostly Fructose - and says on the label sweetened with Fructose - is this okay or not - it keeps shouting me from the cupboard, but I've resisted as yet?

Anything ending in ose is a sugar. Fructose is a simple sugar usually found in fruits and should be counted as a sugar - i.e. don't deduct it from the fibre count.

Better alternatives - if you can stomach them - are polyol sweetened chocolates.

Sorry to disappoint you!

Hi Bev

I also agree with Tonymoo on this subject. Afraid fructose is just sugar by another name and is very easily absorbed by the body. Fructose syrup in foods is blamed as a main reason for obesity in the US.
