Hey everyone...my name is Julia and I'm an alkie...sober since Oct 10, 06. Was sober for 10 years and relapsed..but I am back and now hoping to deal with the weight issues. I got to day 8 of induction and blew it. It was strange to feel myslef going through the process of picking up that food...the obsession, planning...etc..just like a drink. During the 8 days I didn't loose any weight and was hoping for the "whoosh" that can happen. I did Atkins once before during the relapse days and just wasn't ready to deal with my food at that point. So I know Atkins works. Today I am still not back on track but I don't want to stay off the wagon. I have the worst case of diahhrea today..like my intestines are releasing like crazy. It feels good not to be so bloated...so at least that part is a positive. I plan to get back on LC tommorw as I have no real appetite today.
any encouragement will be GREATLY appreciated!
Happy New Year!
JuliaA.

Wooohooo!!!!!!! Welcome, Julia! Glad you are here and that you found us.

Hey, start a journal so we can keep up with your travails/travels...

Together, we CAN do this! And I'm here to say that the Program works for any addiction, even food/carbs. I'm living proof!

I recently celebrated my 3rd year sober birthday. One of our old-timers (30 years) is a crusty, rude old fellow, but he came up to me after the birthday meeting and said, 'You, young lady, are a testament to what AA can do for a drunk.'

He's right - I've changed SO much and all for the better.

That is sooooo awesome! In the meantime I will just keep praying for willingness to get back on the wagon (food wagon that is)....
Thanks so much!

Hi Julia! Im sober since 2/20/92, but only LC since 4/06. I do use the things I learned in the Program to help me along in this WOE, and I also used the steps 7 years ago to quit smoking, Of course my recovery from alcohol comes first but it is nice that it works on my other problems too.

Welcome back, Tammie!

I agree - we have a life second to none. And that no one understands us and our quirks, eccentricities, and 'thinking' like each other!

Peace!

Ok...I have made a decision to get back on track..been offtrack for 1.5 days. Just because I had a slip dosen't mean I have to give up. What if I did that trying to get sober? That would be a bad thing...progress..not perfection right? Tonight I WILL get my meals ready for tomorrow..after all..this is a one-day-at-a-time thing..right?

Good idea on pre-prepping meals. Failing to plan is planning to fail.

So, what are you going to make???? LOL.

Grab a meeting too...that always squares me away. After weeks of only making one a week, I've been down at our hall every day the last two weeks, sometimes twice a day...and my depressed, demented little brain is starting to come around. Yeah!

Yes! I went to a meeting this morning and the topic was PERSPECTIVE...Great topic! My menu for tommorow will be eggs and bacon with cheese, snack will be celery with cream cheese, lunch will be burger on a bed of sprouts w/mustard/mayo and diet rootbeer with Splenda, dinner will be broiled chicken with squash and a small salad with blue cheese dressing, dessert will be sugar free Jello-O. How does this sound?

LOL! very funny Susanne! I decided that this is progress not perfection! Tommorw is a brand new day and today I have not overeaten, but haven't been induction either..so there you have it in a nutshell (nuts are not allowed on induction)!! hahahahahahahah!
