Default Add variable to track?

(You may have already answered this but I am so frustrated with the search program that I am not going to invest my time into that, based on past experience, fruitless effort. Please forgive my snarly tone.)

My Q:

I want to begin tracking the glycemic index & load of my foods.

Is there a way to add additional variables to track in the daily entries?
