Or they marginalize it, or damn it with faint praise.

So I'm wondering -- has anyone had any negative impacts from a low carb diet? I'm reading all the success stories, and can't wrap my mind around why, if this is so effective, it isn't mainstream? I know what the traditional literature says... (cholesterol bad, complex carbs good, fats will kill you ) -- but has anyone's health declined after being on low carb for a while?

For me, I battled feeling dehydrated and more prone to muscle tears/pulls/strains when I stay in keto for long periods.

That's why I began to look at CKD as a better fit for me - so far so good- no issues with dehydration.

I was shocked once just like you for the same reasons. Took me a while to come to grips with the fact that I had been completely mislead by the medical profession for over 15 years. One book which helped me early on was, "The Great Cholesterol Con" by Dr Malcolm Kendrick. A more recent book of his is also very helpful, "Doctoring Data: How to sort out medical advice from medical nonsense"
After reading these books you will understand why the medical establishment has been so wrong for so long and why they are reluctant to admit it. You will be less shocked by the fact that they are wrong and more shocked at how utterly corrupted they have become by Big Pharma.

PS: A similar conclusion can be reached about the Nutritionist Establishment and their corruption by 'Big Food' although that is not directly a subject of Dr Kendrick's books.
