Kat,
I think I am learning more this time then before that it is a one day at a time journey. Also, the regular exercise really begins to add up...and the scale does not always tell the whole story. Glad you are dancing and walking...feels good doesn't it!

Exercise does seem to be the catalyst for me. I can lose without it but I lose faster and feel better doing it. I am already sleeping better. My outlook is better too in general.

I do think exercise is becoming more important, at least for me. However, the scale often does not go lower, building muscle. But I am now able to wear clothes I wore previously in my 140's...and I am not that!
Yesterday I went exploring x-country ski trails at University of Alaska. The trails are well used, groomed and often the site of world class racing championships. So there I was on my 35 year old Norwegian wooden Bonnas (a couple college students commented on my "cool retro" skiis)! But I am not in any kind of race or competition...just enjoying a warm, sunny spring with some lovely snow and hills. Nordic skiing works the thighs, legs, knees, upper body, etc. Unfortunately, I took a wrong turn and ended up in a 26K trail system. Took me 2 1/2 hours to find my way back. I felt it today! So rested and went swimming and soaked in the hot tub. Hopefully I will be ready to go tomorrow...Spring skiing only lasts about three more weeks. It is a great workout and fun too. Well...will see where this goes!

Oh my....it has been a super busy week and half with lots of doctor appts and company. My exercise has really fallen. So am going to make a big effort to get going again. Fresh snow last night so maybe x-country skiing today and swimming tomorrow. I can feel the difference so got to get back!

I got to my weight loss goal. Couldn't believe the scale! There were many, many days when I was eating right and exercising and the scale did not budge. So this is a treat, although I would like to lose a few more pounds.
Today...finally...got back x-country skiing. Lovely sun, fresh snow, very enjoyable!

Very nice! I bet skiing was lovely. Last week was very busy for me too - I barely got my exercise in. And yay for the goal weight!

It has been awhile since I posted. I have been fine on maintenance but a super busy week plus getting some concerning news from the doctor kind of got me side-tracked. Back walking today. Still snow on the paths but lovely sun, birds singing, ducks and geese arriving from down south...nice to be outside enjoying it! Spring in the Interior of Alaska!

Oh Vicki. That is absolutely beautiful. What lovely places you have to walk.

Sometimes the snow gets very tiring but you are so right...very beautiful. And we have entered into the long days culminating with midnight sun end of June.
Thanks Kat!

Yes, I'm sure the winter gets old...I remember feeling that way in March when I lived outside of Cleveland....in the snow belt!
Does the long light affect you at all? Do you have to adjust or just carry on as normal?

I used to say I was like a bear...sleeping in the winter and up day and night in summer...lol. I've always carried on with all the light, however, most of us go pretty crazy from now til October. Outside activities, projects, gardening, etc. Sometime in July we all kind of crash from exhaustion, get our second wind and go like mad til snow falls!

I bet - you probably want to take advantage of every minute to counter all that snow and winter darkness! I'd be doing the same thing, I'm sure.

Walked yesterday...bit of wind...sunny. The dog had a great time. I think I'm going to map out how long my road and the one next to it are so can walk those sometimes.

I answered your question in my gym log but will post here as well.... Hi Vicki - Yes, I just dance. Like I'm at a nightclub or concert or something. All free style, nobody sees me. It's fun to try to do routines from videos but that takes a lot of work for me to stop it every two seconds to see what they're doing. There are lots of exercise DVDs at the library - you could check them out to see if you like it enough to buy it. I have belly dance for exercise, aerobics, jazzercize, yoga...I'll try anything. It's just fun to cut loose. If you can find a dancey radio station? Or do you have all those music channels on your TV? I don't know if you have satellite, or cable but there is usually a good station for dance included - like Sirius or something.
