Default Fitday and sugar alcohols

Do any of you know how to get Fitday to count sugar alcohols? I just ate a bar with 27 grams of sugar alcohols, but my choices on Fitday do not allow sugar alcohols to be entered. I have to either enter them as straight carbs or as fiber. Using either one shews the results.

Dodger, in the past I've just entered them as fiber. I know it skews the results, but you, yourself, knows the real story behind the numbers. It's the only way I know of until Fitday gets on the bandwagon!

When I enter custom items in Fitday, I put the ECC in the title of the item in brackets so I know the actual count and total it accordingly.

Fitday isn't really meant for low-carbers, as convenient as it is.

Thumbs up Or, you could

use the Custom Food option and enter it as you count it. It will involve a bit of fudging as the calorie count will also need adjustment. In Custom, FitDay does count alcohol, but it counts it as 7 cal per gr. But, if I were using Atkins and the ECC, I would enter it as I would count it. Once you get the hang of it, the Custom Food option is really nice. Once you have things entered, you can go in and select "All Custom Foods" and it'll give you a list of all the custom foods you've ever entered (it's at the very bottom of the list of custom foods on the food page). Then you can check off the ones you consumed that day and add them to your totals all at once.

Yes, you have to fiddle around with the calorie counts .. since sugar alcohols can range from 2.4 cal/gram for maltitol to 4.3 cal/gram for glycerine (which isn't a sugar alcohol, but it does get listed on the label as a carb).

Hopefully someday the USDA database, which is what Fitday is based on, will include sugar alcohols in their listings.

I just enter them as alcohols.
I cut the number of alcohols in half and that usually works fine.

that way I am not messing up with my carbs fiber or calories.
