Red face Loss of fat deposits

Not sure if this should be posted here, but I have a concern and would like some input. I have noticed "large dents" around the thigh area. I guess you could describe it like a small crater. I know I am probably not describing this the best but if any of you can relate, help me out.

I have been told that it is where fat deposits were and that one thing I can do to improve the way it looks is to exercise. If this is indeed the case, I see this as another way to measure success.

Has anyone else had this problem and can you shed some light on it for me?

Any suggestions as to where I can find material on the loss of "fat deposits"?

Hi ebony!
I was just noticing the same thing on my legs! I have never really carried my extra weight on my lower body (the stomach mostly) but I have noticed the "crater" like areas on my upper thighs have appeared. I find that when I lift or stretch the skin they dissappear so I was thinking maby the skin had been streched out with the fat and it just hasn't shrunk back yet?? I am hoping that this is the case and it will go away in time. I hope someone else can provide some insight on what exactly is going on!!

Sunshine Smiles!!

Thank you for the reply. It sounds logical to me. Guess I should start exercising/walking.

Not a lot of info on how the body's appearance to weight loss other than inches and lbs. I truly believe that the "craters" and flexibility (reaching distance) is another "weigh" to measure success.

Happy LCing

Default Craters

Hi guys

Reading your post has encouraged me. I have been noticing worsening cellulite for the last few weeks.

I read somewhere that fat comes off inner layers first, thus causing some loosening and the appearance of lumps and bumps. I think this is true because whenever I start losing weight I develop cellulite on the back of my thighs and those craters on the front.

Just glad to know I'm not the only one. Its a good thing, it indicates that we're doing something right.

..Max..

Default well now...

I am certainly no expert but I have the dents in my legs also and my Dr says it is vericose veins, which I have never had.. I am probably older than most of you and I hope it is loss of fat deposits cause vericose veins sound so ugly. My poor mother had a lot of them but she was never heavy. Anway just wanted to get in the conversation.LOL

Default Thigh Divots...

OK, so I'm not a golfer, but those creases/depressions/cavities may be a combination of both fat distribution--which is an individual thing and varies with each of us--and age. I think as one loses weight, the fat comes off here and there, not unfortunately, in a smooth way. Many of us end up with those cottage cheese thighs, even if we're relatively slim(mer) than before. I've been a runner for nearly 23 years (3 miles, 3-4 times a week at a fair clip) and my thighs still have a vague "corrugated' look to them! Then again, I'm nearly 53, so what do I expect?!? I'll never have those smooth 21-year-old gams again! As well, I'm more of a pear shape, and tend to gain there vs. around the abdomen. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents worth! Better THIN lumpy thighs than the alternative...

Question Does massaging the area help?

I remember all of those gels with a loofah sponge that were supposed to "break up the fat cells." I know (from experience) that it doesn't work on it's own but does anyone know if it helps the dents while you are actually loosing (be it at the rate of a turtle)?

Massage, Ladies and Gents!

Need to get those fat cells all warm and fuzzy.

Think of it in terms of fat in a chunk and then fat melted over a pan.

Unfortunately, this needs to be done on a constant basis, which I never have the patience to do.

Default How to?

So how exactly do we massage? With a sponge, with water with lotion and for how long and how hard? If I'm going to give it a try I would like to do it the best way I can.

I have them on the inner thigh, they are kinda gross. You can see the indent and the inner part hangs. Hey I had big thighs before, but now the redistributed part looks worse than the big thighs.
I have been excercising faithfully since the beginning and maybe they would be worse. I am keeping the faith that sooner or later somethng has got to give and make them look better!
