Default Need ideas for a cheese fondue...

OK, so now I've revealed my age. But I've been invited to a Memorial Day get-together and would like to bring a gruyere cheese fondue -- thought it would be fun, and I haven't gotten out my fondue pot since the early 70's. Since I won't be indulging in the traditional french bread to dip in the fondue, I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas to substitute.

I was thinking about getting some low carb bread, but does anyone have any other ideas?

Joan

Hey, Joan! My family loves fondue. We usually have it once a month. It's kind of carby, I guess, with beer and flour. I haven't tried making it yet since I discovered guar gum as a thickener. I don't know how that would work.

As for dipping items, we always use bread (not me!), raw cauliflower, and very lightly steamed broccoli (so it turns that pretty green). Cherry tomatoes might be good too.

Have fun!

I had cheese fondue not that long ago, I dipped mushrooms, apple slices and low carb baguette.
