Default hello all

Hi everyone,

I am new to this LC lifestyle. I started on 2-12-18 and so far I am doing rather good, no slip ups. I was 120 and then went straight to 165 in a year! This has caused me to be diagnosed with Hypertension. I am now taking Enalapril for my BP! I think the cause of this is due to dealing with 3 deaths in my family, the major one was my father who died in October 2017 at age 51. This is definitely going to be a struggle, so that is why I decided to join a group to possibly help me along my way and I can help others as well!

I am looking forward to my journey with all of you!

Welcome,

You have found a great forum. Look around the many sub-forums, maybe join a buddy group or start a journey.

Here is good information about reducing hypertension through nutrition and lifestyle: https://www.dietdoctor.com/blood-pressure
In fact, a very LC Diet can reduce your BP quickly, so if on medication, please check it regularly to avoid BP going too low.

All the best,

You and Robyn are probably right to look to stress as the reason for sudden weight gain, and reducing that will help your overall health, but it also occurred to me from your estimated age that you might want to talk to your doctor about PCOS. A low carb diet is the best lifestyle to treat it, but consider having insulin and hormone levels checked too.

General overview: https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/benefits/pcos

I too lost my father young--uncontrolled diabetes and its cohorts.

My BP can drop with just a change from the standard american diet to low carb eating. I know when I have been slacking as my bp slides up to 115/80. My docs think this is ok. I dont. I can drop it asap with just a change in diet.

This is likely to happen for you too. If you are on BP meds, monitoring your pb is vvery important as the meds may need adjudsting.

Welcome to a new way of eating!!!!

Thanks, my dad was only 20 years older than me . He passed away from cardiac arrest due to complications from diabetes. He was diagnosed with Type 2 at age 34, I am 31. :/
I have been getting sick, and I think that it is the change in my diet, I am going to contact my family doctor.
