Ah, but I'd still have to pay shipping- which I can't do unless my ex decides to actually pay me child support.

Great tip! THANK YOU, Gala! I immediately ordered it. The shipping for mine was $8, Ruth and I'm in NY also. If you can't afford that (and I know things are really tight) just send me your name and address (by PM) and I'll send you a check to cover the shipping...this is a great opportunity!

P.S. I originally bought the soft cover because it's usually cheaper and I've read it cover to cover, but when I saw this was the hardcover version I thought it'd be great to have since this is the one book I plan to have and refer to for a long time to come.

See? Funny how even when something is "free" it's not always the best deal. But I'm still excited to get a hardcopy for my collection and at least I do value that book a great deal.

Ruth I tried to PM you but your account is full - that's great news

Thanks again for the info, Gala.

I didn't realize my box could only hold 10 messages- it's all cleaned out now, and I'll be sure to empty it regularly in the future. On another board I have room for 50 (and had room for 200 for a while!!!) so I didn't realize how close I was to the limit here.

missed the deadline for getting this, so I went to the library and checked it out. I think I'm going to look for a used hardback copy. I haven't finished reading it, but so far I think this book is great! Not too technical; in fact, I really appreciate the detailed explanations on physiology, which are written so the average layman can understand them. I feel as though I finally, truly understand how insulin works in the body!

I ended up getting a hardcopy as more a long-term keepsake than anything. I will be using it to re-read after I have my baby and want to "start over". It's the only book related to diet and nutrition I've ever connected with enough to want to keep, so I'm glad to have the hardcover now. Besides that I can loan out my softcover without sacrificing my copy!
