Default Fell off the wagon and got run over....

Okay, it's not THAT bad since I didn't really gain much back, but I've been sloppy and cheating since the week before Thanksgiving. My weight did sneak up to about 255 but after 5 days of clean eating it was 149 this morning, so I think lots was water, but I'm not very happy with myself, and having a hard time sticking with it. Who is it here who always says "first you cave and then you crave?". Yep. That. Figured I better start posting to keep myself honest. I'd like to be lower than 240 by my birthday - Dec. 20th - so that should be pretty reasonable.

What was your weight before you started cheating?

PS - You meant 249, right? Not 149?

I was about to say, I need 5 days of clean eating to lose that much. LOL LOL.

Good Luck! Many of us are on the same journey.

Okay then "I think lots was water" is correct. Let us know how fast it comes off, okay?

yep, sure looks like it - I'm 243 this morning. Now, I WAS stalled around the 250 mark for about a month, so don't think that this is really rapid weight loss - it was a stall and a woosh - but it does mean 12 pounds this week, about 5 of which seems to be 'real'! I have a funny pattern - I'd drop 10 pounds all at once and then stall for about 6 weeks - my overall weight loss has been about 2 pounds a week. 3 more pounds and I'll be at the half way mark - exciting!

Do you keep records? I'd LOVE to see the daily numbers. I've been thinking of doing a cyclical keto thing and having something to look at would help me a lot. Even if you don't have exact records just a few dates and weights would help.

Sounds like you are back on the wagon!! I used to lose like that in big clumps then I was down to 2 lbs a month if that. Then I did 3 months with nothing.
Great job!

What are you looking for? Just weights, or calorie/carbs for those times? I didn't keep very detailed records - especially at first - but can give you kind of a very general overview of weight loss for the last few months:
okay - tried but it isn't working out in the math somewhere and I deleted. So it was pretty steady between Feb. 18th and June 18th(with a stall mid April for a couple weeks) - and in the early part there were a few weeks where I lost 3 or 4 pounds. In July and August it TOTALLY stalled - then a 12 pound woosh. Steady through September, then a stall for 2-3 weeks until I had my Thanksgiving breakdown. Confessions of when I wasn't properly on plan - Easter - I ate all "on the list" foods, but too much of them (which drove my carbs up to about 30). During the summer I had the occasional drink - and although there are no carbs in rum and diet coke it ALWAYS makes me stall. Also had a few days in the summer when I had a few baby potatoes from my garden. Predictably, that stalled me. Funny - when I'm in a stall it is SO frustrating, but looking back over the big picture, I've never really stalled out for THAT long at any point. Summer was the worst, and you can see I was being a BIT bad. I've also tried Intermittent Fasting a bit - and that tends to woosh off a few pounds at first, but then slow me down until I eat more (especially more fat). Whoa - don't know if any of that helped you, but I think it kind of helped me!

Okay, I was at 248. Then I had a few carbs here and there for about 2 weeks (like one day I had toast with breakfast. Another I had mashed potatoes with dinner). By the end of that 2 weeks I was 255. When I went back to the clean eating I went down about a pound a day till I ended back where I'd left off. Oddly, I'm dropping faster than usual right now - 241 this morning, but I HAVE had two days this week with only about 300 calories.

Very interesting.

"Okay, I was at 248. Then I had a few carbs here and there for about 2 weeks (like one day I had toast with breakfast. Another I had mashed potatoes with dinner). By the end of that 2 weeks I was 255."

Mostly water weight.

"When I went back to the clean eating I went down about a pound a day till I ended back where I'd left off."

Water weight.

"Oddly, I'm dropping faster than usual right now - 241 this morning, but I HAVE had two days this week with only about 300 calories."

Not water weight. It's stories like yours that make me think cyclical keto dieting is a real phenomena and not just people justifying "cheats". The worry is if people have the will power you've shown to cut the carbs before gaining fat weight.

I have been wondering the same thing myself - and I'll be honest, a few months ago if I had cheated it WOULD have been "game over, man!". There is NO way in heck I would have gotten back on the diet so easily - that has been the story of my life - diet is going well, then I cheat, then that justifies another cheat, and then I give up. Now that I've been on the diet for so long, if I make a mistake one day, I don't have any trouble hopping right on board the next. Is that what they mean by "keto adapted"? BUT...I'm going to say I'm not personally going to try carb cycling as a strategy - I plan to keep at it the way it was designed to go - but at least I don't worry as much that one mistake will send me into a tailspin.
