Smile Good Morning!

Where is everybody? I miss you!

Lobster - Have you tried the emu yet?

I've gotten a book from the library "The New Glucose Revolution Pocket Guide to the Top 100 Low GI Foods"

I'm going to the bookstore today to see if I can find one to buy. It's a really great guide, lists portion sizes, GI , GL (most important) and it's small enough to be really handy.

You'd be surprised at the variety of foods you can have, and still not raise your blood sugar too much! (it's all in the portion control!)

1 (1.69 oz) pack of Peanut M&M's has a glycemic load of only 11 (10 or less is considered low). You mean we can actually have some candy??!!! Yes, and they mention not to buy the 1 lb. Bag!

Have a great day!

I've read that book and don't think I don't remember the peanut M & M thing everytime I walk past the candy jar on the secretary's desk!

Iowa -

You are great to resist the temptation. I think 15 pieces is like GL = 6.

(yes, but how many calories???!)

P.S. Iowagirl, I looked at your gallery pictures...you know, they have stuff that can help remove facial hair....

Hey ya'll!
I'm still here...somewhat
I went and bought some Kefir milk today...YUK! Obviously it needs to be mixed with fruit. SO I'm thinking about doing a couple of shakes a day and a sensible dinner...sounds a bit like slim fast, but I'm willing to try anything right now. I've been doing ok with the eating and it seems that GI is becoming more and more main stream...so I'm sure it'll get more and more pub here shortly...leading to more and more ideas. The thing is, is that I KNOW what to do and how to eat...I just keep procrastinating. Well I think I've found my inspiration...I'll post more about that later.
ANyway...ya'll have a blessed day!

If I can do this, You can do this! We are all in this together!

It is so easy to say to myself, "I don't care.. I want to eat (such and such)!"

When I think of it, I sound like a big baby to myself!

When in reality I do care, and even if I could say it's not for vanity, but for health reasons, I have to care.
Sooooo....I have to do this. Besides, I'm 51, you'd think I could find a way to be thin by now!

So, please stick with me - I need your support! (If only to know I am not alone in this!)

Have a great day! (If all else fails, stick with the M&M's! )

I'm sorry.

Well, make them peanut M&M's and have 15 of them. The GL is only 6!

or 1 packet (1.69 oz) GL=11

Or forget the M&M's and have a nice iced tea!

[Please, no more talk of M&M's. It's starting to get to me. I might just have to get in my car and go out and buy a bag! ] I'm sorry I ever mentioned it!

It's 3:20 pm here. What's for supper tonight? Any ideas?

Edit 4:30 pm -
This is what I am preparing:
It's Quick Black Bean and Sweet Potato Chili

I use Organic Black SOY Beans ( only 1 g carb / 1/2 cup!) (sometimes I use 1/2 black Soy Beans and 1/2 reg. Black Beans - they are pretty low GL)

http://www.globalgourmet.com/food/s...mily/chili.html

I serve it to my family w/ Jiffy Corn Bread (I just have a taste of that!). It's not too hard to make and they like it!

For the peppers I use the frozen sliced multi-colored peppers. Easy!

That sounds yum! Almost like comfort food!
I can't wait till the fall and all the cozy stuff that comes with it. I plan on really hitting it hard this fall and making my goal by Jan 24 (my 31st b-day).
I'm trying to figure out if there is a quick lil handy list that I can get of Low GI/GL foods. I keep forgetting what some of the stuff is...for example, I bought some nuts today (Planters Cashews, Macs and Almonds mix) and I'm just wondering what the GI/GL impact is.
I'd really like to know what it is for Mac nuts...I'll research and see what I can find.
Ya'll hang in there!
