BigJ
I use an Ipaq and am using Personal Health & Diet from
Two Peaks Software. Their version gives you software for you PDA and your Desktop and syncing them is easy. and its only $19.95 or you can download a 2 week trial.
I've been using it and am getting ready to buy it but I am still going to check out other software first.

As I posted earlier I put all my vitamins and supplements into the "custom foods", Just today I put them all into a "recipe" so now I can add all my daily stuff with just one entry ! If I didn't take a certain supplement I can just delete that part of the "recipe". God I love this program!!

I use Fitday PC and put my vitamin in the custom foods as well. My diet is so much more nutritionally rich than before I started using the software. I do need to add an ounce of carrots about every 5 days to keep my vitamin A up, and a single 600 mg calcuim tab once a week. Everything else is running well with diet and a daily multivitamin.

I really feel like I'm getting better nutrition than I've ever had before now that I'm using this software. And Calorie deficit over time is matching up very closely with actual body fat lost. Actual weight loss is a bit off, though, because I've been gaining muscle - mainly because I've increase my exercise now that I'm watching it closely.

This software is great.

Question for upthehill - I just put my vitamins in too - did I do something wrong LOL - some things are coming out as over 14,000% of the recommended daily allowance!!! - I take things like an enhanced potency B100 and a multi vitamin with B and some calcium and essential fatty acids (which I cant put in) - according to Fitday I am VERY well nourished if I take these.

I would test the cd you make just to make sure you get the total install file - better safe than sorry.

From previous experience, I've found 2 things help when copying an installed progam.
1. Go to the Control Panel (for your computer) and select Folder Options. In the View tab, make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected.
2. When you reinstall the CD, copy it over to the drive where you want it, then right click on the MAIN program folder. If read-only is checked uncheck it. When you click OK, you'll get a second dialog box. Here you want to select "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files"

It's not 100%, but it's helped me save a couple of programs!

Good luck!

And you know what's neat? You can search the food database by nutrient, either high or low. So if you were deficient in thiamine, for example, you can search for foods high in thiamine. If you're eating too much sodium, you can search for foods low in sodium. I this program.

Recently I found you can copy your food log from one day and past it to the next, now that's convient!! I'm one of those people who eat the same thing for breakfast and most like for lunch. It says so much time! I put my vitamins in and I just copy and paste it for the whole week.

Downloaded Fitday for PC yesterday and so far I have to give it a thumbs up. I was resistant as I figured the online version was fine and although it is good the version for PC is far better. Lots of simple improvements, ie. you can assign a food to a specific meal, track your mood, etc. The level of complexity is up to the user. It has lots of advanced analysis features if you want to spend the time to learn and use them. The GUI is more pleasing. For $20US it's great value. And, of course, you don't have to panic if Fitday's Server goes down !

Ok, I jumped on the bandwagon too. I'm still learning the program, but it does seem to be much better than the web version. Now if it could just help me learn to manage portion control.

Anyone using the flashdrive find out how large the database grows yet?

Would 256MB be enough?
