French fries. They are my new pregnancy obsession and I must fight with myself every time I go out to eat to avoid the french fries!

And pie crust — good, flaky, buttery pie crust. I have not found a suitable substitute, and although I can make most pie fillings low-carb, I just can't get a good flaky crust to put them in.

They do have LC Cool Ranch Doritos! They're called Doritos Edge and come in regular, cool ranch and tostitos. I think the Tostitos are the best of all. I buy them in Super Walmart and I've seen them at a Kroger in the North, too. I forget the exact carb count, but they'd be suitable for OWL if you didn't eat the whole bag.

Luckily so far - I haven't found anything that I crave and can't re-place with some sort of lc option. However, I do eat some of the frankenfoods that some of you are so weary of. So far I haven't found them to be a problem - but when/if they do become a problem I will cut them out and will probably have a huge lc wish list!

For those of you who would want a low-carb pudding, make an egg-custard. I GF makes one that is heavenly. She uses splenda instead of sugar and cream instead of milk. Pick a recipe from any cookbook and make the substitutions. Its great warm or cold. It can be served with berries and whipped cream for even more taste. It's actually better than any pudding I have had.

Lessara--

My grocery store has no sugar whole milk yogurt. It still has some carbs from the lactose but some lc authors say that it has fewer than the label shows because the bacteria in eat the lactose and convert it to lactic acid(?). The brand I get is Mountain High but I know that Trader Joe's has a good brand too.

Good luck!

i have to say that there really isn't anything i miss...it's all about finding substitutions for everything. if you can find the excitement in saying, "wow! i CAN eat ____" instead of thinking, "ugh how i dread that i'll never again eat _____" then you'll stay on the right track. for example, i'll never again miss rice, because i discovered the trick to making cauliflower rice (it's nothing but the seasoning).
