Natosha,

You never answered my question about Atkins. Do you have a book? Have you read it?

Nat,

forgive me for this but I was looking at your stats. According to them you are 130, and your goal is 120.

Frankly I don't think a Meat and Egg fast is going to do it for you. Matter of fact, I think you are starving your body of essential things it needs so its hanging onto the excess weight.

Unlike someone who has 130 pounds to shed, your body is different, the systems you are dealing with are hormonal once the body realizes it can shed the extra pounds it does, it but the body is very conservative when it comes down to the last few pounds.

This is why Atkins molded the Pre-Maintainance and Maintenance portions of his program, which included way more carbs.

John

Well even if peanut butter does not cause you to gain the pop tarts will!

Natosha - as no-one else here has your body no-one here can say if adding peanut butter to your eating plan will help you lose weight or stop you losing weight.

The only way to find out for sure would be to eat some, keeping all other foods, exercise, water intake etc exactly the same and see what happens.

I have not seen what rules apply to a meat and egg fast as it is not an Atkins option, but as what you list includes cheese it does not really sound like a meat and egg only regime!

Are you eating when you're hungry and until you're satisfied?

How long are you intending on staying on this meat and egg fast? I have done a similar thing before but only ever stayed on it for a week or two before going back to my normal level of carbs.

I've done the meat and egg fast in the past, and, as I recall, it's not supposed to be a long-term thing. Not that I have a link or anything to back that up, just going off what I remember. It's supposed to be a kick start to ketosis kind of thing, but your body needs the nutrients from veggies, so don't exclude them for too long. FWIW, but I'll search around to see if anyone's published any guidelines for M&E.

Atkins has a fat fast in his book, but its only meant to get you into Ketosis. It isn't meant as a long term thing.

I hardly get that hungry any more. I think cutting carbs can make you hungry, but luckily you can eat more protein and hopefully that will cut the hunger.

what cleanse did you do?
