Hey Misty!
Seeing as I just bought the Newmans's Own dressing you spoke of, I think I should try those wings! One thing: at what temp and for how long?

Newman's Own is great for pouring over any chicken and baking - as for all that about temp, etc - I started my wings at 350 but quickly moved them up to 450 - but I think my oven temp is lower than it should be. I didn't time them, but checked every 15 mins until the skin had crisped and they looked done.

Last night I cooked a second batch at 400 and I think they took 45 mins - but bear in mind that the wings I use are frozen when I put them in the oven.

My 13 yo daughter thinks the wings rock! (That's why I had to make more... )

Thanks much! Hopefully I can get my son to try them(he's a very picky eater stuck on carbs right now-I'm lucky he'll eat lettuce!)

How old is your son?

My 13 year old is the candy hound.... but she is eating more protein lately. Sausage for breakfast and wings for snacks... I am working on her without telling her about it...

He's five and completely addicted to sugar. I must confess I think this is mainly my fault as I'm a single mom and sometimes the easy dish is the not-so-healthy dish!

Talking Addicted

Personally, I love pteradactyl chick wings in Louisiana hot sauce of my own making...they'll burn the inside of your mouth dry and cause your throat to constrict, cutting off all of the air to your lungs until you turn blue...but, I'm addicted! What can I say?

Default Franks Hot Sauce

Does anyone know the count on Franks Hot Sauce? I dont think there are any carbs, but I would like to add the calories to my fitday count along with the wings.

I just made some homemade wings and despite the fact that the sauce did not stick to the wings like the ones I buy at the supermarket they tasted good. I did panic at first, but they were fine and accepted by DH and kids like the regular ones Not too many left over for my lunches which was the plan!

Default Few ?'s

What are wing tips?
You just put the thawed wings in the fryer?(I always covered them in flour) In S.C> everything gets breaded hehe.

My wife is going to love this! HMMM.....It seems women have a very strong addiction to hotwings.
Thanks!

Wing tips are just that...the very tip of the wing that doesn't have much meat on it. I just cut that part off with a very sharp knife. Yes, you can put thawed wings directly into the fryer without any coating on them at all. I usually just bake mine for a while until they are done, toss with the sauce and then bake 10 minutes more.

Thumbs up Yummm~!!

Made wings last night for the first time, and if I do say so myself, it was superb!! Hubby loved it, and he was full of compliments to the chef (moi)!!

Thanks to y'all for the recipe I'll make a big batch this weekend and freeze it so hubby only needs to pop them in the oven when he wants some.

Question:

What type of oil should I be deep frying the wings in? I'm currently using vegatable oil. Should I be using peanut oil instead? Do I even need to be concerned with the type of oil?

Thanks in advance for your response.

I eat them at least once a week. Either as a dinner or with a salad for lunch. I make my own at home tho with hot sauce, butter and vinegar melted together.
