Wow, you guys have great a1cs! I'm a T1 pumping insulin. I strive for below 6.5, but I usually hit around 6.6. I had a few under 6 tests, but all of those were during periods of extreme life threatening lows. I've said this before in this forum, but I think we need to be aware that for insulin dependent T1s, a very low A1C can be just as life threatening (if not even more so, in the short term) as a high A1C. So, I don't really agree with the principle that we should aim as low as possible. We need to be safe. For example, when I'm teaching I like to be around 140. This ensures I won't have a reaction during a period that I can't test. When I'm done teaching (class lasts 75 minutes), I bolus a correction. Of course these strategic highs affect my A1Cs, but I have to have a professional life too!
