Default Support group for middle tennessee

Hi everyone,

I would like to start a support group for
middle tennessee. I'm in Dickson, so
it would be for Nashville, Bellevue, Fairview, Kingston Springs, Bon Aqua areas (and anywhere else close enough to drive.)

I'd like it to meet once a week or once a fortnight. All the details will be worked out as we go along.

Please let me know if you are in these areas and would be interested in joining.

Thanks,
Kara

Default Atkins on Larry King

Hello every one:
It seems that the low carb network is somewhat of a little family. So I wanted to share this with you. Though the plan I am currently on is Protein Power, I promote Lo carb lifestyle in general.
Anyway to get to the news. Dr. Atkins was on Larry King Live last night and for some who have not read any of his books in its entirety, some of the stuff maybe new for others it is a healthy reminder. He is promoting a new book and an upcoming book on diabetes and obesity. For him the link between the two is about 60% (60% of the clients he has dealing with obesity have diabetes(at the atkins center)) . Take a look at the transcript. I am posting it here. http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0301/06/lkl.00.html

Also I have a question for those I have read that have gone off the their eating plan and then come back. Moreso just an observation and suggestion. It would seem that because the Atkins eating plan is a lot like the Protein Power that it has stages that a person can go through until they get to an eating plan with more carbohydrates about 70-130 g. If that is true it would make more since that if you are considering coming off the eating plan to only go up in the stages. Reasoning is that this way you will save the metabolic and positive health benefits that you aquired at your lower levels of carbohydrate intake. This is just an observation and suggestion. I would think this may help reduce some of the guilty feelings associated with "falling off the wagon". It should also keep you in control of your destiny of a healthy lifestyle. Take care all

Cool Howdy Neighbors!

Greetings and Salutations to all my fellow TN low-carbers. I live in Hermitage (just east of Nashville). I started the Atkins diet on 7/21/02. I have only lost 1 lb. since the holidays and have found it very hard to resume my weight loss. I thought about starting induction all over again, but it has been tough. It seems a lot harder to stick to than it was the first time. I guess it doesn't help that I had people at home and at work also low-carbing it. Now I'm on my own. It's good to know there are more of us out there. Good luck everyone!

Shannon

I live in Hermitage but work in on the Brentwood/Franklin border, so I'm not that far away. I have maintained a 51 lbs weight loss since December, but can't seem to resume the weight loss. I have made a commitment to myself to refocus between now and Christmas. Wish me luck! How are you doing so far?

Hi Shannon,

If you're close to Franklin we are pretty close together! I had wondered how to find people around us that were doing this LC WOE.

I just joined the forum a few weeks ago and am loving it. You are way ahead of me in your weight loss - I'm hoovering around a 14 pound loss. You're going to do great between now and Christmas!

Keep in touch - would love to know how things are going for you. I tried to PM you - your box is full.

Unhappy Pm

ICountToo,
I think you're the first person who has ever tried to PM me. I don't have access to my PM inbox. I don't think I've posted enough to have a PM box yet, but I'm close....one post away. I have added you to my buddy list. I really don't know how all this works yet. I don't get on the forum that much. I should visit more often to keep me motivated. I'll let you know when I'm PMable.

I'm back... lol!!! I haven't been on this site in months (I was pregnant) and now that I've had my baby, I want to lose the pregnancy weight (lost 21.5 lbs and have 10.5 left to lose) and then the weight I had gained when I met my hubby (which was a 27 lb gain!).

So, HELLO again!!!!!!! I hope everyone is doing well and losing weight!!
