I realize the topic has changed, but I'll address the OP. I am completely gluten-free and mostly milk-free, but I do eat yogurt and butter. I only eat organic whole milk yogurt; it's the only fermented food that I am able to eat. I often mix in frozen organic berries.

Oddly enough, I just had bacon for breakfast this morning! It's working like a charm! I'm really starting to feel much better since I stopped dairy completely a few days ago. Don't want to jump the gun - but I am really hoping that this no dairy thing is going to relieve some of my woes!

Congrats Susan! It's all a mental thing, quitting a food. It's much, much harder to think about than it is to actually do.

I'm reminding myself of that right now as my supply of coffee is about to run out and I'm not going to renew it. Eeeeek! See... I'm panicking but when it comes time, I know it'll be fine.

I think it might be a pH thing, as I found that dairy used to quell the nastier bouts of acid reflux. You might still be eating too much starch if it continues to bother you; GERD/heartburn almost always improve on low-carb diets. Starch is, at least for me, what does it.

I am seeing a naturopath now that thinks it could still be damage from a parasite from the carribbean I got sick from 15 years ago.....(and years of eating gluten while it turns out I am celiac)......anyway....so I am still having a small amount just to help coat the stomach....but cutting out all the extra dairy...

I would wager it's more the celiac. Naturopaths tend to point to parasites a little too often. I tend to point to diet a little too often, but I think it's a bias in favor of what the reality actually is.

On a completely random and off-topic note, is your surname actually Delacourt? I have a -court in my surname, and I recently learned that it apparently is something that was added to somebody's name in Western Europe when he or she attained status.

This makes me wonder; i've heard that coffee prevents you from entering ketosis for a time. Have you ever noticed this personally?

I've been low carbing for 5 years and my body seems to use up all the ketones I produce as fuel, so I don't pee any out. I think it's an adaptation everyone makes if they're on LC long enough.

That's pretty cool: how long do you think it takes? I'd love to get the acetone smell off my breath
