I have in the past - but as a bread lover, decided I'd just as soon pass as wasn't that gratifying. I have bread (really good stuff) about once a week. Last time was a homemade baking powder biscuit with breakfast about a week ago - and it was worth every carb. I'm due for another indulgence - but like said, it's gotta be really good stuff to make the carb jump worthwhile.

I vote for the Sara Lee bread. It comes in both white and wheat, and tastes like regular bread. I think they already subtract the 2 fiber grams when they advertise 9 grams of carbs. I like it when I am missing a real BLT sandwich or grilled cheese.

Pepperidge Farm also has a low carb white bread... 5g per slice. YUMMY.... I LOVE the fact that I could have a grilled cheese sandwich or have toast with my eggs. It has saved me from getting bored for sure.

Default Harper's Family Bread

Here in Eastern Idaho we have Harper's Family Bread that has 12 grams of carbs per slice, and only one gram of sugar.

Spelt Bread

Since beginning LCing, I discovered I have an apparent wheat sensitivity. Duh!

I found by accident that I can eat Spelt bread, which is white. And lower carb than regular bread. It has a texture similiar to a dense rustic white bread, not fluffy like Wonderbread

Spelt is an ancient form of wheat and non-hybridized, which means that some people who can't eat regular wheat, can eat Spelt

Whole wheat bread (or pita, tortilla, wheat germ, wheat bran) all give me bad acid reflux and general belly unhappiness...so I vote for Spelt. LOL.

FYI spelt is also made into various other products like pasta etc. That's okay...I am off pasta...and staying off pasta. LOL.

I think the only bread bread I am not afraid to eat is the Atkins Country White Bread. It is 3 carbs. I only eat 1 piece at a time because 6 carbs for a sandwich is a little overboard for me. The crust does taste a little foamy though. But I only eat it once or twice a week.
