Oh wow, I happened to read the fwe posts above mine and ... umm... well this post had a turn for the worst didnt it.

It really is a shame that people still feel the need to put large groups of people down for no reason. To demean them just because of their religion, race, creed, or sex. To be comfortable enough in your own home to say that nonsense is bad enough, but to take it to a public forum is honestly just sickning.

As a professioanl editor I spend a good bit of my life correcting others' typos and spelling mistakes, but on boards I think we can all relax a bit can't we?

Hear, hear! I admit to what is almost a compulsive interest in spelling. I seem to be wired that way, have been for as long as I can remember. And I couldn't detect any faults in Piet's posts, not that I was looking hard. I'm not an American either. And I'd just like to remind everyone that our words, when we're posting in an all-text environment, arrive divorced from facial expressions and tone of voice. Therefore it is VERY EASY to subtly misinterpret a post and read emotions and motives into it that may not be there. Just my tow cents. Happy easter, everyone!

Edit: I just caught MYSELF in a typo... that was supposed to be two cents, of course. Though here, it would more likely be 50 øre.

Piet was being a tool. He was insulting, and acting like he was smarter than everyone else and didn't want to listen to anyone's point of view. That's why everyone was pointing out his spelling, poor paragraph structure, and lack of intellect.

Poor paragraph structure in the original post, that I'll give you. I'm not on his side, I'm a low-carber, but I, too enjoy an occasional friendly debate. He seems to have underestimated just how inflammatory his remarks were to us, and that's easy enough to do for an outsider. I just think many posters have been giving him exactly what he's after, and that's too bad. He'll go away (here's wishing) with the same opinion of us that he had coming in. Doesn't anyone else think this is a little bad? I think I see some of his points. That being said I totally disagree with most of his flaming vitriol of the original post.

Actually, I think he came in for an argument. He enjoyed getting it and we enjoyed giving it. Win-win.

I agree with Ian. But then I almost always agree with Ian, even when I have no idea what he's talking about.

Maybe you had to be there as posts were flying fast and furiously, but it really was a fun thread. And I'd like to think that he left realizing that we weren't all complete idiots.

My thoughts on Trolls:- Can there perhaps be a 'user post minimum' to being able to post in the War Zone?

Perhaps a 100 post minimum.
