Karen - it turns out I cannot make the Vancouver dinner after all. I have run into a scheduling problem and found out I already have something on that night which I forgot to write on the calendar. I sure hope I can make the next one!

So, who all from the Island is coming? I want to seat you with other familiar LC'ers.

You can send me a PM with your real name so I can match you up!

Post Dang!

Karen,

I'm just not sure if I'll be going to dinner #5. I've checked out the menu & there are a couple of things I just don't like & some others I'm allergic to; the allergen stuff triggers my asthma so I'm just not sure if it's worth it to me to torture my body. SIGH.

But you never know, I may decide that the social interaction is worth my body suffering from eating the wrong food. I don't suppose substitution is possible? What a pest I am.

I'm coming, I'm committed to sitting with Henry, though (think he'll mind any other Islanders?).

I've started another thread trying to get some folks to share my ride...

So, I'm seating all the familiar faces - or avatars - together that night.

There are a few seats left if anyone wants to go.

Talking Dinner

Hi Karen, wish I was out there. The menu is fantastic. All the best , I hope the evening is perfect.

Being new here, I only just realized that you're a chef! Well, so am I, sort of. I graduated from culinary at George Brown College but instead of cooking I managed a hotel for 8 years, Well, I had to cook sometimes, I had one chef who loved wine so much I had to take over a few times! Seafood is my best specially and I make paella's etc (not now). Today my daughter and I had grilled jumbo shrimp. Excellent food on this program, but sure miss the creme caramel.... All the best and have a great time.

Isn't it though? I just love cooking LC.

I'm making some pork and shiitake mushroom meatballs now, and then I'm going to make some mushrooms braised with soy and sake then broiled with butter. Who needs all that gakky starch!

The dinner on Wednesday is LC-dinner #5. It's great to be in a room full of low-carbers and sometimes the carb-curious. We also have a permanent LC dessert on the menu that sells quite well.

I used to live in Toronto and have some friends who graduated from George Brown.

You can make LC creme caramel, but without the caramel. Not the same I know, but still quite tasty.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the latest low-carb dinner.

lilwannabe, you are even more beautiful in person than in avatar. And Happy Birthday to your handsome husband again.

Ruth, your support and good humor is much appreiciated! You're one of the few people who has attended all five dinners.

Judi, you're earrings made my night!

Marlaine, meow! You look sexier every week. I expect to see you in a leopardette cat suit by next week.

A very special thank you to way-out-of-town guest lisaf, you're a shining low-carb light in the darkness of a carb filled world!

And Wa'il, even though you were not with us, your presence was there.

There was a couple at one of the tables who attended the first dinner who started low-carbing shortly afterwards. Now many pounds lighter and with a great increase of energy, they are very happy with their new way of eating.

To see all of you together makes me so proud to be part of the LC connection. Thanks!

Karen

Karen
I peeked at Marlaine's journal and she gave such a fantastic run down of the menu, I was just dreaming that I wished I could be there. It is just wayyyyy to far away for me, but who is to say, someday I can plan a vacation and will definately visit the Fishhouse first hand.
