Thanks, Annajen!
That information is very useful.
I was looking through my tea drawer - yep, tea drawer, I love tea so much all my tea needed its own little hidey spot
- and I discovered that I had some really high quality detox tea. And, whadaya know...it's made of Pau D'arco and clove! It has some other things, too, in lesser quantities, which are also antifungal. And the best part is, IT'S SO TASTY. I'm going easy on it because my die off has been pretty bad, but I'm feeling much better today, so I think I will try drinking some again tomorrow.
Financially, I'm not really in a place where I can see any professionals, but when I am, I definitely want to. It would be nice to get some formal testing for allergies - there might be some stuff that I'm sensitive to and don't know about. It's been hard to tell what's an allergy and what's just difficult for me to digest.
I have begun taking some really nice probiotics (Dr. Ohhira's Probiotics 12 Plus Professional Formula). I may end up switching to Garden of Life's Primal Defense, just because it's a little more affordable for me and from what I've heard, is still a very high quality probiotic supplement. Do you know of any others I should consider that are in the less-than-$30 range? I'm getting my stuff from the Swanson Vitamins internet store. They seem to have the best prices, and they have a large selection of excellent products.
Due to some health problems that I had when I was younger, I have been tested for ALL KINDS of things! Like, really exhaustive testing. I'm as healthy as an ox, according to western medicine. Nothing wrong with my blood sugar or thyroid (thankfully
).
I will definitely look into this chlorophyll business, and see what I can get that's gluten free. Does kale have chlorophyll, by any chance? Or nori? I have so much kale that I could open my own farm stand
.
When I can afford it, I'm definitely going to get a big tub of organic coconut oil. I actually have a little already that I use to moisturize my hair and skin, given that I'm allergic to just about every body product out there other than castile soap. It seems like it would make a delicious thai stir fry, with some garlic, lemon, lime, ginger and whatever veggies I have on hand.
I'm doing the Lahoz Protocol Candida Diet, which I will be on for the next year or so. I'm vegan, and it's awfully difficult to get the calories I need without going fat-heavy on nuts and oils (at least on the Stage One diet, which will last for at least 3 months), so I'm thinking I will start eating eggs. My roommate's family has an organic farm, so at least I'll be eating healthy eggs from happy chickens that I know personally and have tended to and cared for myself. The chickens don't seem to mind when I take their eggs, actually. They're more interested in what food I might have for them, or the particularly bug-laden patch of grass their buddies just found
.
So, I am now on Day 6, and I feel pretty good. Yesterday was brutal, felt like I had a really terrible flu, but I woke up feeling much better, and this evening I am feeling great! I was even able to go out and run some errands, do some housework, and clean my guinea pigs' cage. I have found that I feel satisfied with much smaller portions of food now. I was always a binge eater, and exercised like crazy to offset it, but now I feel things are balancing out. It's taking some adjustment, but I think I'm going to like this diet a lot. Food just...tastes better. Maybe I just have more gratitude for the things I can eat. Also, my skin is clearing up already. I have had acne for 10 years, so I'm pretty psyched about it finally starting to heal.
Now, I'm starting to think about "holiday dishes" that I can do within my current diet parameters. I've got something in mind that will *somewhat* approximate pumpkin pie or spice cake - quinoa with a little bit of pumpkin, nutmeg, allspice, clove and cinnamon; sweetened with stevia. My birthday is coming up soon, and I think I'll do that for my "cake." Healing is a lifestyle, and I think my mindset is fitting right into it!
Oh gosh, this is rather long, haha. I'm just one of those expressive types that ends up rambling sometimes...
