I took Effexor for many years, until it stopped working for me. I am not currently taking any antidepressants, but a number of other medications I must take
are on "the list." I learned that I must count calories, as well as carbs, in order to lose weight. It's not an easy thing to do, because most low-carb foods are high in calories, and most low-calorie foods are high in carbs. But you can do it if you're willing to put a lot of work into balancing everything.
I try to keep my carbs at 30 grams or less per day, and my calories between 1,000 and 1,200 per day. However, I'm quite inactive due to my disabilities. (I had been walking, but one of my doctors really hit the ceiling when I told him about it!) Depending on your build, height, etc., and if you're physically able to get a lot of exercise every day, you could probably eat a lot more calories every day than I can allow myself.
If you want to try this technique, you will have to develop a personal "library" of books that list calorie and carb counts. I have several that just list calories, several others that just list carb grams, and a few that list both.
It
can be done, but it definitely requires a lot of effort. I also keep a detailed food diary, in which I list everything I eat each day. As I said, it requires a lot of work, and can become very tedious at times, but it has been worth it to me.
I
sincerely wish you the
very best of luck! I'm proof that it
can be done. Over the past 25 months, I have lost 135 pounds, and I have no plans to ever give up.
