I scored an "18". Can't say I consider myself 'highly sensitive' or have ever had anyone consider me as such. I can say many of the questions which did apply have been acquired in the past decade (more or less) only.

Fetch - that's really funny. I scored 16, and I'm a highly sensitive person.. My mother accused me of it every day of my childhood, and was always saying I had an "artistic personality", which was absolutely accurate. I think other aspects of my personality stopped me scoring higher in that survey. I'd prefer to tough it out at the party than retreat to allow my jangling nervous system to subside. I'd rather eat my own arm than withdraw to a darkened room or to bed, lol. I'm playful, so I love to do a lot in a short space of time, because it's like a game. I don't get annoyed if people try to get me to do too many things at once. I just explain I cannot manage so much.
I kinda agree with Jo - so what... But then again, if the book gives strategies to cope better with certain issues which sensitivity causes, then that can only be a good thing. I'd love to be able to perform in front of people without becoming a gibbering wreck.. and I'd love to be able to keep a better grip on my emotions, rather than being so easily reduced to a blubbering mess when trying to cope with other people's tragedies. Nevertheless, I doubt if I'd take the time to read a whole self-help book. A page of bullet-pointed tips would be ideal. I guess that's why I like the Atkins diet. The whole diet can be summarised in a single page. Pure genius.
