Question Frying questions

My daughter bought a deep fat fryer. What can we put in it for fat to fry?
I ask for I recently found I can't eat soy and Crisco has soy in it.
Thanks so much!

Corn oil works well and doesn't contain soy.

If you can get real lard you can use that, otherwise oil will work. If I am deep frying I prefer to use peanut oil but everyone has their own preference.

Grapeseed oil, or Canola both have high smoke points so tend to work quite well.

Vegitable Oil by the way has up to 25% soy oil, at least what I found around here (NH). I'm looking for something to go in a fryer. Is Grapeseed ok?

I use coconut oil for frying. I put an inexpensive brand (LouAnna, which is sold at Wal-Mart) in the fryer.

RICE BRAN OIL.

There are many great health benefits to it.

"Rice bran is an incredible source of the vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids and antioxidant nutrients that help fight disease and promote good health"

It's hard to find in local stores but you can order it online at...
