Post Carls Jr. Low Carb Breakfast Bowl

Has anyone tried these yet? The picture looked a little gross, but its nice that all these "fast food" places are getting on the Low Carb Bandwagon.

I had my first this morning -- and the first thing you notice is, "Wow, what a lot of food!" For $2.99 you get:

about FOUR - FIVE scrambled eggs,
diced ham,
real bacon bits,
sausage (lots),
and grated cheese.

These ingredients are randomly layered together (not cooked into the eggs). The heft of the filled bowl was surprising. You could easily share this with a friend and you'd both be full. I couldn't finish it and I'm no lightweight when it comes to downing quantities of food.

It was good. I can't muster up a lot of enthusiasm here because I'm pretty tired of scrambled eggs for breakfast but I'll definitely go back again. After all, it's still relatively cheap (you don't have to tip at a drive-thru), it saves time driving through on the way to work instead of cooking, and I often don't have anything in the fridge.

Two final notes:

Carl's Jr. has done something really dumb here -- if you buy it in the meal combo instead of a la carte, they give you hash brown nuggets -- DOH!

It's hard to eat while driving, unlike a sandwich, because it requires both hands to hold the bowl and the fork.

An update -- I ate that thing at 8:00, it's now after noon and I'm still absolutely stuffed. In fact, it's given me a bit of heartburn -- which I haven't had for years.

I checked their Website. That breakfast has a whopping 900 calories with 660 calories coming from fat. It also has 2050 mg. of sodium!

I shouldn't have eaten as much of it as I did. I'm now unsure whether I'll go back again or not.

Final note -- I went back for another this morning. Well, they are tasty and I ate less of it.

I had one of those yesterday morning. They are huge! and I had a $1 off coupon. I couldn't eat anything until 9pm I was so stuffed. I know that's wrong, but hey, what can you do? I will definitely go back for another one some time.

The bowl costs $2.99, well worth it if you ask me.
