Default Stabilizing blood sugar for exercise?

I'm on Metformin & Januvia & experience lows if I don't eat enough or sometimes during exercise. I'm really excited because I've finally starting achieving more normal FBS (96 this morning), but to get there, I take my meds at 3am. When I started my walk this morning I was around 100, and I drank an Atkins shake, but was at 66 ten minutes into exercising. Had to drink juice & keep exercising so as not to experience a high reading. What do you eat/drink to keep your blood sugar levels stable during exercise? I usually do high-impact aerobics, fast walking on an incline or the elliptical for 40 minutes. Thanks for any suggestions!
