Default Question

Me and my boyfriend are on Atkins. I really like it but he is getting sick of it. He still wants to lose about 10 more pounds but he doesn't want to do atkins anymore. What are some suggestions I can give him on eating the best kind of carb food if he is going to eat it?

Raven,

What about Atkins doesn't he like? Does he want to eat pizza and pasta and burritos?

There are plenty of choices to eat on Atkins. Just check out the extensive recipe section. Low carb isn't really a temporary thing, and if he goes back to eating the way he did before, he may very well gain all of his weight back!!!

Hi:
Get him to check out The G.I. Diet. Very easy, and all the carbs are low g.i. good carbs. I could only take Atkins for so long before I couldn't take all that meat and cheese anymore. Atkins isn't for everybody, even though some folks thrive on it. For me, The G.I. Diet is the way I want to eat for the rest of my life and doctors and nutritionists everywhere agree.
Quincy.

Atkins in where the success is. I haven't had any success doing anything else.

Hi.
Seems like whatever success you enjoyed went south. Your stats say 0% weight loss. I guess you must be starting over. Hope it works out well for you this time.
Have a great day.

Quincy: Low G.I. and loving it!

Switching to the GI diet budged me from the stall I was stuck on for almost a month doing Atkins, so I'm sticking with it. Plus, I feel better and have more energy. What I am keeping from Atkins though is making protein a priority, and making sure that the majority of my carbs come from veggies. Also, nothing but whole grains (and in very small amounts).

I dont think theres ever been any food that I 've ever wanted that I couldnt find a low carb recipe / alternative for it .. Im guessing your bf is just wanting variety.. if you'll tell us more about what he is missing / wanting / needing maybe we can give some suggestions ?

I made a perfectly legal pizza yesterday that is to undistinguishable from regular pizza.

Good luck either way.. I'll check back to see any updated posts you might make or feel free to pop in my journal if I can help in any way.

Phyllis

That's a good suggestion Phyllis...

I'd be happy to help with suggestions if you'd like to post what he feels he is lacking!

With only 10 lbs more for him to loose, he could be in Pre-Maintence - even more variety of food there vs. OWL. I bet he could find a LC solution for what he is missing...
