Default Romaine Lettuce and sugar?

Maybe I'm missing something but I thought Atkins did not allow sugars during the induction? I was reading the label on the back of my bag of romaine lettuce and it says that it contains 2g of sugars.

I'm stumped. This is supposed to be an allowed food on the induction diet. Can anyone help me with this? Should I change to a different lettuce?

Thanks

Thumbs down Sugar NOT ok during Induction

Hi destiny 62. Not much point in changing to a different type of lettuce.

Most types of lettuce contain approx 2g of carbs/100g - that is a lot of lettuce for very little carbs. The benefits (vitamin and mineral wise) are good. The carbs you get from green stuff like lettuce, spinnach, greens etc are good sources. You are quite safe to keep having them.

During my induction I lived on lettuce (my favourite is Iceberg) with chicken or meat or egg. It looks a lot more on the plate!

Take care.

Default I love my salads too!

I love romaine with roast beef, shredded cheese, mushrooms and caesar dressing. It's the high point of my day when I have my salad!

The rest of the food, eggs especially, is getting pretty old. How many ways can you cook an egg and it still tastes like an egg But it seems to be one of the only ways to do breakfast. You can throw a bunch of stuff in and make an omelette, but it still tastes like eggs.

There's a great article under "Low Carb Tips" (at the top of evey page in orange highlight) by Karen called "Jazzing up your Induction" you should have a look through, Destiny.
