Kresser agrees that short term fish oil campaigns are unlikely to be harmful. But the problem with a short term campaign is that it's likely to be a palliative unless one addresses the root cause of the problem.

Correct, my root problem is hyperinsulinemia. By getting the weight down and lowering all of my levels the insulin production will level off. Lowering the triglycerides and total cholesterol is necessary.

Thankyou for the info, I will increase my intake to 3600 as I have high triglicerides - I have only been taking 1200 up to now. I hope I get the same good results.

Does have any ideas on how I can increase my HDL and lower my LDL? I am low carbing but I do tend to fall off the wagon once or twice a month.

I wouldn't worry about the LDL. Things that can make HDL low include smoking, vitamin D3 deficiency. Things that can raise it include eating plenty of saturated fat and exercising.

The falling off the wagon doesn't help with the triglycerides but over time you should see them fall if you stick to low carb.

Thankyou for that. I don't smoke but am disabled and so can't exercise other than a little gentle walk. Will work on the willpower to stay on the wagon.

What foods are "extravagant triggers of triglycerides"?
