Unhappy Big time cheating

I've eaten 6 girl scout cookies, 4 pieces of pizza, cup of fruit salad and 4 twizzlers candies today. Really stressful work day. I hope I can get back on track tomorrow. Has anyone ever screwed up this much and recovered?

I think that getting back on track as soon as possible is important to minimizing the damage, but you have to know that it will likely slow you down and set off the cravings again. I also think it's important that you think about what caused the cheat and how you can handle it in future without munching down on the carbs.

Take the opportunity to turn it into a learning experience so that you don't have to do it again.

people have messed up WAY more than that and gone right back to eating healthily the next day. people have messed up for a solid month or year, and come back to LCing and had success. You will probably temporarily gain weight and may have delayed your progress in weight loss by a week.

But Marlaine's right about learning. In that sense, you haven't delayed progress at all. This day was part of the learning experience of changing your habits forever. The old habits of mind, spirit, and body that got us fat were in place for reasons...what are those reasons, how can you deal with the opportunities for food/stresses/people more healthily in the future? I promise you, you will always live in a world with pizza, girl scout cookies, and Twizzlers. So how do you negotiate that world? This is part of what we mean by "way of life" or "way of eating." It's a slow and uneven learning process. What did you learn this week?
