Default Calories Burned?

It seems that the calories burned for cycling is very optimistic. For instance, I biked today for 71 minutes at 15 MPH. The P.L.A.N. gave me around 1280 calories. I estimate that I burned no more than 500, based on an equation that I use and a little gut feeling.

How does the P.L.A.N. calculate the calories for cycling?

It basically uses the MET factor for each exercise base on "ACSM's Resource Manual for Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription, 3rd ed. (Williams and Wilkins, 1998)."

If you prefer to use a specific factor, you can create a custom exercise, and enter a custom rate of burn. Just click on "Custom Exercises".
