My family, especially my husband, is very supportive. My friends and co-workers on the other hand... I usually just tell them I've cut all refined white flour and sugar, or that I'm doing a modified paleo diet. It's amazing how much more accepted paleo is compared to Atkins, seeing as the two are so similar.

No one spent decades, with a stranglehold on mass media, demonizing Paleo.

Ugh, true story. Now, off to burn every vegetable in sight and fill my pockets with bacon, since it's the only thing I'm allowed to eat!

Yeah, my middle boy was staying with us briefly, the last time I did LC (before diabetes dx) and if I ate something questionable, he was on it. LOL!

I have found it is better to just smile and forget it.

I had not seen my inlaws for about 2 years ( my MIL had a heart attack and now has vascular dementia).

She has gained at least 100lbs and i have lost 69ish lbs since I last saw them. I no longer take insulin and do not sleep 10 hours+ a day.

He kept telling me my diet will catch up to me and reduce my life span.

My FIL thinks I am wrong about grains and that they are not the issue. His diabetic "team" has told him only light cream and no olives. Lots of whole grains too. We spent a week looking at houses for them here. Just him and I went so I had a captive audience. I suspect I will win the lottery twice before he will even consider my point of view. Unfortunately, my MIL will likely die from another heart attack in the near future.

On the morbid side, my wife will be a multimillionaire when her parents uh, go.

Off tangent a wee bit. I feel better now.

We can lead our loved ones to low carb, but we can't make them eat right.

My friends and family know I eat what I eat...the person in our family ..who kept saying "just eat with balance " is now a good 30 lbs over her best weight....my DH struggles with the idea that living l/c will bring him life...I refuse to move....my DH has a fasting blood glucose into prediabetic....He will be doing an A1C in June....
I had amazing bloodwork....I am a poster child for low carb lifestyle

My family don't give me any problems, but my doctor is convinced I'm heart attack material. The ignorance of some professionals amazes me and is frankly scarey.
