Nutrition House carries it, in the refrigerator section. Omega Nutrition brand, organic and unrefined. I'm sure they'd order it for you if your local branch didn't have it in stock.

Yes, I was going to mention also that I've seen it at some other local health food stores, but higher priced. Also they kept it just on the shelf, and more than once I bought and when I opened it at home .. phew!! rancid. Had to take it back, which was really inconvenient. If it's fresh, it will have a faint coconut scent, and is bland and virtually tasteless. When rancid, it smells very chemically, like paint thinner.

Some Asian markets that sell Thai specialties may have coconut oil .. but make sure it's unrefined. Some coconut oil products are hydrogenated.

Default coconut oil

Hi:
I recently bought this in Peterborough. The difference in price between brands was shocking. Tropical Traditions is the brand advertized on the Thyroid Web, but I was unable to find it here.
What brands are you all buying?

Omega Nutrition brand ... it runs around $10Cdn for a 454g jar, and $17Cdn for a 907g jar at Nutrition House. Look for it in the fridge.

http://www.omeganutrition.com/produ...met-coconut.php .. but remember it's a US site, so prices in US $$.

I've seen cheaper coconut oil products, but they're processed, refined and/or hydrogenated. The Omega product is organic, unrefined.

hth,

Thanks Doreen:
I 'll check it out and see if there are those stores here. I am also looking for wheat protein isolate. Would you know where to get it?

Personally I haven't found any, only soy protein isolate so far, but I don't use very much of it, most of my recipes use small amounts. So without getting into the soy is good/bad for you, that's what I've used so far.

I only found one store that had the Extra Virgin Coconut oil (which is recommended). Natural Solutions in Sherway Gardens Mall. - 416-695-1374
