Bob's Red Mill products are great. I haven't tried this one but, all of my whole grain oats and flours that I've tried to add in have been from this company.

hiya, you can make hummus out of garbanzo beans:

LOW-FAT HUMMUS

6 Cups cooked, or three cans (16 Oz. each) garbanzo beans, drained
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 Cup water
Juice from one lemon
4 green onions, chopped
1/4 cup fresh parsley (optional)
1/4 tsp cayenne
Black pepper and salt to taste

Mash garbanzo beans and garlic or grind in food processor or blender
until smooth, adding water as necessary.
Add lemon juice, onions, parsley, cayenne, and black pepper and salt
if desired.
Refrigerate for several hours or overnight to let flavors blend.

Here is a recipe for LF hummus with chickpeas.

Title: Low-Fat Hummus with Tahini
Categories: Low-fat, Spreads, Dkuhnen msn
Yield: 8 Servings

2 cl Garlic
2 c Cooked chickpeas
1/3 c Tahini
3 T Lemon juice
1/3 c Water, or chickpea cooking
Liquid (don't use the
Liquid from canned chickpeas
; it contains too much salt
And usually tastes too much
Like the can
1/2 t Salt
1/8 t Cayenne pepper

Mince the garlic in a food processor fitted with metal blade. Add the
remaining ingredients and puree until smooth, using additional liquid
if needed.

I do believe that you can make hummus with any bean. It might be a good idea to try it with other beans.

Dunno, I was under the impression that chickpeas and garbanzo beans were different names for the same little tan legume. *shrug*

Yes, chickpeas in English, garbanzos in Spanish, hummus in Arabic.

In Arabic the word for chickpeas is hummus, and the dish is named after it's main ingredient.

The recipe I have for Hummus does include olive oil and I have also added Sun Dried Tomatoes to mine which was awesome. Thanks for the recipes!
