Default This is what I have been doing

Am I going to cause myself problems in the long run (please say no, lol)

I eat low carb around 2 days and the third day I eat 2 meals of whatever I want (NOT an all out binge or anything). If the family wants pizza, pasta (I do use dreamfields), mexican, I eat it--or I'll eat some Slim-a-bear klondike bars--YUM. I also eat a dessert or two if I want one.

This is really an average sometimes I do an extra anything meal if we are out or sometimes I stay very low carb.

I have been doing this about a month and have maintained fine. If I gain a pound I'll just do another lc day and that usually solves that.

Is this an ok way to live? I am very happy and can see myself doing this forever.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. To me, you are describing how we all should have learned to eat, meaning you can't have treats all day every day.

for me, I'd have to be sure that third day never turns into more.

Keep up the good work!!

Just be sure to get your blood testing done after a few months (like cholesterol, blood pressure triglicerides etc etc), since the combination of the somewhat higher fat percentage of the average low carb eating combined with the frequency of your treats might cause you some grief in the long run.

What you are describing is actually just yet another version of carb cycling. I agree with poindexter, in that we all have to find our own way of maintaining our weight loss, and if it's works for you, then that's fine. Just be mindful that your one high carb day doesn't turn into two, three, or more high carb days in row, and on until you end up putting all your weight back on.

For myself, I often eat off plan or 'treat' myself at the weekend in some way, but make sure that the rest of the time I adhere to my usual low carb maintenance woe. So far, it has worked very well for me.

If you are happy eating that way and are able to maintain your weight, I think that is whats important...that you are happy and can see yourself eating that way for the rest of your life!!

Demi gave you great words of advice!

Its always good to know that we can fall right back to our lc food plan to manage our weight...to me, that is what maintaining is all about. It never ends!!

When I tell people my diet is mostly fat, they look like their heads might explode -- it doesn't compute for them. But the results are evident, so all they can say is, "I'm glad you found what works for you."

I couldn't do what you do, but if it works (verified by periodic lab work), keep doing it.
