Saw him at a flyers game, he has gained all his weight back plus extra. He auditioned for Biggest Loser in Atlanta and they loved him because he was so bitter against being tricked on Atkins. He did not get the audition, but he now lives in a lean-to in Grand Isle Louisiana and is helping clean up the oil spill with one of his engineering inventions. He lives solely on oily fish, Twizzlers, and Yoohoo.

Sad that he gained the weight back. I am shocked that he blames Atkins, as a Meat and Eggs ONLY diet is nothing like Atkins (even at the strictest level-Induction). Atkins mandates veggies and suggests that induction isn't prolonged so that more veggies and even fruit are added to the diet. I thought that those of us who embarked on an M&E plan knew that we were tweeking lowcarb for our on benefit for a specified time.

As I see it, there is a lesson to be learned here, if he has truly gained all his weight back and blames Atkins. This is supposed to be a way of life, not a diet. Dieting assumes you will eventually go off of it, then gain all the weight back because you return to your previous bad food habits/carb addictions. I need to have a plan that I can follow for the rest of my life that I am comfortable with, even if I lose at a slower rate.

Carbohydrate sensitive/addicted folks cannot go back to their former way of eating. That is like an alcohoilc going back to alcohol, even one will start the craving with me.

I am eating between 1500 to 2000 calories a day, plenty of fats and I am eating what I like, as long as it follows in my guidelines, and I have lost 6 pounds in about 2 weeks, not as fast as some here on this forum, but I need something that is gentle on me, that I can live with the rest of my life. For exercise, I go walk my dogs, maybe 1/2 to 1 hour a day, but not always every day. I don't want to go to a gym or lift weights.

I think the idea is moderation in all things.

How can he say he's been "tricked" on Atkins? lol, if he lost the weight, then it worked undoubtedly. He tricked himself by thinking it was "finally done".
I think that for people like us, it's never done. Like redmountai said, this is a new way of life for us.

That is a amazing amount of loss in a short time. I have seen multiple familys members loose huge amounts on Atkins then have a rebound weight gain just as fast or faster than they lost it. I think its really important to follow the carb. ladder back up and work just as hard for just as long being super dilgent at keeping it off as we were about getting it off.

That post sounds completely made up, especially the joke about leaving in a lean-to and eating nothing but twizzlers and yoohoo. I highly doubt anyone has met the original poster.

I did think that might be the case at first, but when nobody jumped in to say otherwise I started to think it might be true.

I hope you're right in any case.

Oh my - sorry guys - it was a joke post - totally tongue in cheek and not meant to be taken serious. "twizzlers yohoo and lean-to" should have been a pretty big signpost that I was kidding.
I have followed this thread in real time since its inception. I do wonder what happened to Bowtieboy. I lost a ton of weight on Atkins and had an easy time keeping it off as long as I kept my carbs in check. It did get harder and harder for Induction to "work" like it used to. I am now bigger than ever and frustrated and do wonder about the long term impact on metabolism of continually restarting induction. Atkins always meant for the induction phase to be 2 weeks and then ease in to eating a ton of veggies and some fruit. He even warned in one of the earlier iterations of his books that one could screw up their metabolism if trying to continually stay in induction.
Having said all that, I am going to start induction today - LOL.
