And Stillman only alludes to the stimulant drugs in a very roundabout way in his QWL. He'll say "with the help of the QWL diet and some extra assistance..." or something like that. I'm not sure he ever came out and copped to using stimulant meds outright. But yeah that was the "diet du jour" back then.
I like the idea of hanging an outfit in plain sight that you are trying to get into. I have an adorable size 4 sundress (that is now about 12 years old) that I always got a ton of compliments on that I've used as my "goal dress."
