Default IBS and smoking - better since quit

Since this is basically a website about eating ["carbs"] , there are probably some here who have bloating, bowel cramps, and other abdominal pains, maybe you have been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome...

I want to ask: has anyone has found that quitting smoking has helped with those IBS symptoms?

Quitting smoking seems to have helped me with my IBS [so did quitting carbs, but there was still some symptoms] especially that bloating in the mornings. In fact, in the 4 days of quit, I have not had a bad morning as far as bowel cramps is concerned.

I had no idea that smoking did that. I am taking some other medications that I assumed were the problem there, but nope, it was tobacco I guess. Not one doctor mentioned this possibility... and all those years of suffering might be over now, or reduced anyhow.

This is going to help me stay quit too!![I bet you all wished you had some terrible problem that tobacco was causing, to help you stay quit!! lol just kidding]

I know, it is not a topic anyone likes!! [so thanks for any replies]
