Insane day kiting with the smallest kite in the quiver. I was lucky to not get injured or lost when the wind came up to near 50mph. It was quite an experience, I hand to stop and sit on the ice with the little 3.7 M Cloud D about 10 feet off the surface of the lake. The kite surged and drifted back and forth during the gusts. As I was sitting on the ice the only thing I could see was white all around me, my kite 20M away in the air and if I looked above I could see sort of blue sky with snow whipping past.

I've been in what seem like dire situations like this before and comfort myself by saying, "The wind will back off in a while, it always does, even if it's tomorrow it will back off..." I waited it out for a break then kited back to the launching spot and was able to punch out and recover the kite in the wind shadow of a small island. Such fun! I made a little movie of the day and near the end, still full of adrenaline, I described my time out there. whew!
