Re: cramping: I DO drink at least 2 liters of water a day as a baseline (more in hot weather, when more active, etc.), so I don't think dehydration was causing my cramps.

I am partial to magnesium because it seems to help me with both cramps and restless leg. I had restless leg syndrome for 35 years.... and it stopped 90 percent when I went low carb.

And I just realized while writing this post that since I have been taking magnesium (a few days), the other 10 percent seems to have abated, as well. And also the severe and sudden cramps, which I have had on and off for a few weeks -- now gone, as well.

As with all of this, so much of it varies according to our individual biochemistry, but group wisdom is also quite useful (especially with THIS great group!), and seems to indicate that adequate hydration, salts, and magnesium might be the keys to addressing the cramping thing.
