Default Low Carb Study Biased

(Valewis)

Val,
That attachment is really interesting. One of the articles that was heavily biased in favour of high-carb was one of the ones printed in the New England Journal of Medicine last year supposedly supporting the Atkins diet. However, the researchers restricted calories on the high-carb diet while subjects on the Atkins were allowed to eat as much as they wanted. Also, the test was controlled by dieticians (trained under the ADA). In other words it wasn't a valid comparison and may have shown much higher weight loss on Atkins than reported, if done properly.

Another one indicates that study results of low-carb dieting are being reported for subjects consuming as much as 236 grams of carbs per day. No wonder low-carb isn't working (in the lab).
