Default Let me tell you about nerves and PEA

Here is why it is abbreviated: PEA (palmitoylethanolamide) is a compound naturally produced by your body.

My particular issues involve the nervous system, which is how I stumbled upon this “food supplement,” as it is known in Europe. While one of the few things I don’t struggle with is chronic pain, and that is this compound’s main use, it involves a pertinent pathway.

The local health food store started stocking CBD oil last year. I tried it, and as happens SO often, I had a couple of weeks where I thought it might work... and then that ship sank. Still, the fact that it did work for a while made me keep researching that particular body system. Which is how I encountered this:

It is a AM/PM compound, and one box lasts 30 days. I have been taking this for two-three months now. The Life Extension brand (I regard them and NOW as reliable brands) has different formulations for morning and evening. Since the price is not much different from other formulations, I have stuck with it.

I have experienced improvements in sleep and CALM and what I can only describe as “brain pain.” While not physical like a headache, it expresses itself in some serious discomfort, emotionally, distinct from other issues which I have successfully put into remission. I can’t call my anxiety and autoimmune “cured” because if I stop treating it the symptoms return but I WILL TAKE IT.

Around the same time I added RAW thyroid because my research indicated long term stress (yes, that would be ME) could put me into subclinical hypothyroid.

I have been over and over the symptoms of low thyroid, and aside from crushing fatigue I’ve never ticked off a single one. But since this affects so many other systems, and it’s absolutely torturous to get properly tested, I just cut to the chase.

DH (CFS/ME) was finally diagnosed as hypothyroid, which I had suspected for years, but we had so many other things going on that we didn’t get that nailed down until the middle of this past summer. Diagnosed by Doctor A who declined to treat him further because he didn’t know anything about it, prescribed by Doctor B who we fired for bias and incompetence, and it was an artificial hormone. (See what I mean? She dismissed everything we said.) We are waiting for a follow-up with Dr. C.

However, I got DH raw thyroid because people said they could use it as a short-term supplement when they ran out of their prescription. Turned out, the artificial seems to be working for him.

Personally, artificial has NEVER worked for me. But here it was, and subclinical is definitely a THING, and so I started taking it.

After 2-3 months of both and 2 weeks off work, I have not felt this ready and rested IN A DECADE.

In case it helps anyone, here you go.
