I get really %$~#%#$% (p-o'ed) with all this, "of course, it's REALLY a low calorie diet" stuff that gets thrown around in these articles.
Yes, I'm sure for some people, it is lower in calories, especially since they might have been chowing down on a lot of junk which eating healthier procludes.
But for heaven's sake, my mother was down to 600 calories a day with her low fat diet, without losing weight. When she tried Atkins, she was eating at least 2000 calories a day, and has lost 30 pounds so far.
While I was losing, my calories averaged 2500 a day. Previously, keeping my fat grams to 30 a day, I was still getting 1700 calories a day to maintain me and my extra forty pounds, which wasn't budging.
In both our cases, our calories went UP, and our weight went DOWN.
Of course, medical science must explain this by the fact that both my mother and I are MUTANTS.
