Calories matter - particularly as you get nearer your goal. Dr. Atkins explained this in all his diet books. Adding a ton of unnecessary oil to your diet is just pouring calories in, unless you cut down the protein, etc. to compensate. Here's a post with quotes directly taken from the Atkins books:
